Galanthus gracilis ‘Andreas Fault’

A handsome virescent form of Galanthus gracilis, selected by Andy Byfield and named by Matt Bishop with a characteristically mischievous play on Andy’s name — Andreas Fault, rather than the geological San Andreas Fault. The flowers are relatively large for gracilis, with green suffusion and markings giving the plant a distinctly fresh, green character. It is accompanied by fairly large, strongly marked leaves, making it an especially good plant when grown in a collection of virescent snowdrops. The name is therefore a botanical in-joke rather than a reference to California’s famous tectonic fracture.
