A striking, large-flowered and rather variable poculiform snowdrop, Galanthus ‘Phantom’ produces flowers in which the inner segments are broadly similar in length and shape to the outer segments, creating the characteristic cup-like poculiform form. The substantial flowers are predominantly white, with green markings varying considerably between blooms and from season to season. This variability is part of its appeal, with individual flowers often revealing subtly different expressions of the same distinctive form.

Origin: Of obscure origin, ‘Phantom’ has been circulated among snowdrop collectors as a large-flowered poculiform selection. Its precise provenance and original raiser or finder are not reliably documented, and it is best treated as a collector’s clone rather than attributing an unsubstantiated origin.

In the garden: A particularly desirable snowdrop for collectors, where its large flowers and variable poculiform character can be appreciated at close quarters. Grow in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil with good drainage and allow established clumps to remain undisturbed.
